Week 1 of Summer STEAM Camp: Imagination Meets Design! June 2-6
Week 1 at STEAM Jr. (grades K-1) and STEAM (grades 2-6), our campers are diving into the world of architecture and design through the lens of their favorite characters and stories!
STEAM Jr. (Grades K-1) Little Worlds, Big Imagination
In Little Worlds, Big Imagination, our youngest campers will start with the basics of geometry by designing miniature homes for their favorite book or movie characters. From learning 2D and 3D shapes to applying those concepts in hands-on projects, they'll create one-of-a-kind dioramas filled with tiny furniture and personalized details that bring their characters' homes to life.
STEAM (Grades 2-6) Storybook Structures
For our older campers, the week will be filled with magic as they step into the role of architects designing dream homes for fictional characters like Harry Potter! Using character bios, budgets, and specific requests, campers will draft blueprints, critique designs, and build functional scale models of these imaginative homes. Harry Potter’s specific requests include an owl perch for Hedwig in the bedroom, a hidden room with a secret door, and a broom closet for his Nimbus 2000.
It’s storytelling meets construction, where creativity, problem-solving, and math in architecture all come together to make each tiny home truly magical!
